Highland Laddie v Lingdale Tavern: With the weather taking it's toll on most of the fixtures this game attracted a lot of spectators.
It took both sides time to settle and with Lingdale missing their top scorer, Shane Breckon, it was up to young Dane Breckon to pressure the Laddie defence, Matthew Nesbit having to work hard to contain him. Lingdale won a penalty after 20 minutes when Ball was fouled in the box. Thompson took the spot kick only to see it saved by the impressive young keeper, Bennett. This lifted the Laddie, Combellack linking well with Danes created a shot which went wide then with Dickinson containing the Tavern defenders Hood and Brown, Hislop came close, Moore in the Lingdale goal pulling off a good save. Lingdale's Ward played Calvert through but once again Bennett saved well to keep the game goalless at the break. Lingdale lifted their game in the second half, Ward and Thompson winning the midfield battle against Burns and Taylor. Lingdale were awarded a second penalty, Bennett could do nothing to stop Hood converting from the spot. With ten minutes remaining both sides were reduced to ten men when Thompson and Martin Nesbitt clashed. With the Laddie unsettled a quick throw in allowed Calvert to break clear and lob the advancing keeper to make it 2-0. Lingdale finished the game off when defender Hood netted his first goal for three seasons. The win putting Lingdale five points clear at the top.
Lealholm v Gt Ayton
Lealholm secured their biggest win in this league against an under strength Gt Ayton. While Lealholm controlled the game from the start the first half saw just one goal when in the 35th minute Carruthers headed in from a corner. In the second half the match was all but won in the first 15 minutes as Lealholm netted 3 goals First Mahan finished well after a series of passes beginning with the goal keeper, then a Robinson pushed home a scrappy goal and a Paul welham shot hit an Ayton player on the back and spun upwards over the keeper giving Lealholm a comfortable 4 goal lead.Midway through the half sub, Crooks turned his man well and shot past the luckless Ayton keeper then a Paul Welham free kick somehow eluded everyone and bounced into the net. Carl Welham comleted the rout with a well taken shot from the edge of the box.
