FOUR groups have secured a cash boost from the National Lottery's Awards for All scheme.
The grants programme was set up to help small groups fund projects which involve people in their local community, bringing them together to take part in a range of events.
The Thirsk and Sowerby District Community Care Association has been awarded £5,000 to recruit and train volunteers.
The York and District RSPB members' group has also been given £5,000 to give a series of talks and presentations to people, local schools and youth groups.
East Harlsey Pantomime Players have been awarded £4,220 to run a two-week drama workshop for young people aged seven to 16. It will be held during the summer holidays and will culminate in an evening performance for the community.
Hackforth Village Hall has been awarded £2,664 to buy table tennis equipment which will be available for everyone.
