With victory over Redcar Glazing, John Davey Ltd are within touching distance of a cup final place needing just two points from two games to make sure.
They beat Redcar Glazing by 3-2 with three first half goals but sat back to allow Redcar to pull two back then had to thank keeper Stephen Aziz for saving a last ditch penalty. Chris McGill scored a hat-trick with Peter Manton scoring twice for Redcar Glazing.
Cleveland Inn are also in the same position after they beat Jack and Jill 5-0. Roy Ngigi (3) and Ray Woodhouse (2), but all could be lost should D and E Locksmith, who have to play both teams, take full points. Then it becomes a battle between John Davey Ltd and Cleveland Inn who play each other on February 8.
Iceland had a comfortable 5-1 win over Gables Manders who were rubbish, says secretary Steve Wilson.
Tom Connolly opened for Iceland, Jamnes McGowan bagged a pair, while Chris Hansen and Paul Muthana had one each scoring for Iceland who are now in pole position for their group in the cup.
Parkland beat SIFC by 6-1. Danny Watcham converted a penalty, Darren Fixter missed two then scored four from open play and Steve Lennox got number six. Messias Maurico netted for SIFC.
D and E Locksmiths overran Big W by 6-1, both Craig Bell and Karl Lilly scoring hat-tricks while Glyn Bigham scored his team's consolation. This win keeps D and E on the fringe of a cup final position, but will have to pull out all the stops to top Cleveland Inn and John Davey Ltd.
By this weekend the cup situation should be cleared up and we can get back to the bread and butter of league match.
