Whitley Bay Squaws join Telford Wrekin Raiders at the top of women's division one North following a 5-4 win at Telford on Saturday.
The winner came with only 27 seconds remaining in the match.
Squaws went ahead with the only goal of the first period from Becky Kasner after 15 minutes. Telford had the better of the middle period as they scored four without reply to have a 4-1 advantage.
The visitors got off to a great start early in the final period as Kasner completed a hat-trick with goals at 41.09 and 43.05 on the powerplay. Squaws kept plugging away and Sara Christie struck home the equaliser with 03.30 remaining in the match.
A share of the spoils looked likely until Christie's all important winner and her second of the match.
The teams meet against this Sunday at Hillheads (face-off 4.30pm).

Billingham Wildcats let a 2-0 lead slip and were held to a 2-2 draw at Blackburn Thunder in their women's division one North clash. Jenny Carter gave Wildcats the perfect start by scoring in the third minute and at 10.17. Nicola Borg doubled the advantage.
Thunder replied early in the middle period to tie the scores within 71 seconds of the restart. Wildcats found Thunder's netminder in fine form as she thwarted Billingham's attempts. The visitors restricted Blackburn to just five shots on goal in the final period.

Sunderland Commanches had home advantage against Telford Venom in the English U14 North A League at Newcastle Arena. Commanches kept hold of fourth place with a 6-0 victory and went ahead at 07.31 through Nathan Salem. Two minutes from the end of the first session Salem hit his and Commanches second goal of the game.
Salem's hat-trick marker came with his side short-handed in the second minute of the middle period. Commanches dominance continued which brought the Wearsiders three further goals in the final period.
Johnny Moutrey tucked away the fourth at 38.10 and three minutes later Salem recorded his fourth goal of the game. There was still enough time for defenceman Danny Lamb to score a short-handed goal in the final minute.

Whitley Tomahawks won only their second game of the season in the English U16 North A League when Bradford Pirates were visitors to Hillheads. Tomahawks took the lead in the eighth minute through Sam Zajac.
Seven Sunderland Scorpions and one Whitley Bay Squaws players have been named in a women's North Senior Conference squad and will meet a team of Wales women squad at Nottingham ice stadium on February 1. Netminder Ben Hutchinson, defence Heather McDermott and forwards Jane Price, Gemma Rolt, Claire Oldfield, Lynsey Emerson and Helen Stowe from Sunderland and Whitley Bay forward Sarah Smith are in a squad of 20 that will train the day before the game.
English National Hockey League North
Sunderland Chiefs' run of defeats continued with two in three days at the hands of Whitley Warriors and Nottingham Lions at Newcastle Arena. Against Whitley, Chiefs led 4-3 after two periods and two goals in the first. Two minutes of the final period put Warriors ahead and Andrew Tindale's hat-trick marker in the final minute gave his side a 6-4 win. For that match Chiefs were without six players including Andrew Carter and Lee Baxter had given Whitley an eighth minute lead. Michael Allinson equalised four minutes later.
Kristian Lloyd and Jonny Heslop twice put Chiefs ahead in the middle period only for Whitley to draw level. Allinson's second in the 39th minute put Chiefs ahead going into the final period.
Neil Seccombe was Chiefs' man of the match and kept his side in contention.
Netminder Seccombe faced 52 shots against Warriors. Raymond Haslam and Ian Emerson were Whitley's other scorers.
Carter, David Michie and David Brown were back in Chiefs line-up for the visit of Nottingham. It was Chiefs' fourth game in eight days and were level at 2-2 after the opening period. Carter and Lloyd scored after Lions had twice gone ahead.
Three unanswered goals in the second period put Lions 5-2 ahead. Carter's second goal for Sunderland came in the first minute of the final period to cut the deficit. Nottingham hit back with another two before Heslop scored at 48.19. Lions added another three to reach double figures. Chiefs match at Billingham Bombers on Sunday was postponed because of ice plant failure at the Forum Ice Arena.

Whitley Warriors were beaten by Bradford Bulldogs for the second time this season. Bryan Dunn put Whitley ahead at 04.06 before Bulldogs led 2-1 at the first interval.
The middle session saw Andrew Tindale tie the scores at 25.54.
Bradford struck five in the period to Whitley's three from Tindale (2) and Dunn as Bulldogs led 7-4. They scored an eighth before a fracas at 51.46 saw Warriors lose Robert Wilson and Bryan Dunn on misconduct penalties for roughing and Bradford lose Craig Dyson also pick up a misconduct penalty for roughing.
Tindale's hat-trick market came two minutes later to complete the scoring in an 8-5 win for Bulldogs.
