VOLUNTEERS are needed to keep a treadmill running for ten hours.
The exercise machine will begin running at Chester-le-Street Leisure Centre at 9am on Thursday, February 22, and must be kept going until 7pm.
Individuals or teams can sign up for stints on the exercise machine.
The fundraising venture is designed to raise money for the International Dog Service Fund (IDSF), to set up a dog training centre near Chester-le-Street. The organisation would use the facility to train animals to meet the needs of their future owners.
Ruth Young, of Chester-le-Street, who is involved with IDSF, said: "We thought this would be a bit of fun, especially with all the over-eating over Christmas.
"If people aren't used to gyms, then they can just sign up for two minutes, or walk. The important thing is to just keep the treadmill going continuously." Anyone interested in taking part is asked to contact Ruth on (0191) 388 6156.
