A SALON is challenging people to opt for a smoother style and shed their locks for charity.
Staff at Workshop Hair and Beauty, in Grange Road, Darlington, are raising money for Cancer Research by shaving as many customers' heads as possible.
And beautician Sarah Butcher has her waxing strips at the ready for men prepared to lose their leg hair.
The salon is holding its fundraising day on Friday, February 20, and hopes to see scores of people come through the door for a close shave.
People can get their hair cut by putting as little as £5 in the collection box, but staff are hoping customers will raise more than that by asking friends and family for a donation.
"The reason we are raising money for Cancer Research is because it is obviously something a lot of people are aware of," said salon owner Susannah Hirst.
"If ever the time comes that we are faced with cancer in our lives then at least we know we have done something to help."
There will also be a raffle running throughout the day.
