SCHOOLCHILDREN swapped their playground for a building site and loved every minute of it.
Youngsters from the primary school at Kirkbymoorside joined the building trade for a day to put their classroom work into practice.
They visited Barratt's West End Mews development for a tour of the construction site.
With the help of site manager Harry Farrell, they learned about the materials which go into the building of a new house.
Teacher Angela Carnley said: "As part of our work, we're learning about the difference between modern homes and old-fashioned homes.
"We approached Barratt and they were delighted to help us.
"The children learned a lot and loved wearing the hard hats and jackets. It really brought the subject to life for them."
Mr Farrell said: "It was great to spend time with the kids. They seemed to enjoy themselves and, you never know, we may have given some of them an ambition for the future."
