A PLAY area built through people power is to expand.
The £120,000 Park House play area, in Lanchester, near Durham, opened in May last year, after a four-year fundraising drive by residents.
The first phase was aimed at younger children, but Lanchester Parklife, the group behind the scheme has now won further funding to provide facilities for teenagers on the site, behind Station Road.
It follows a successful bid for £25,000 from the Living Spaces fund.
The equipment, including a youth shelter, will now be installed and the group is hoping the site will be finished in time for the Easter holidays.
