A STATELY home is to reopen with a programme of activities for younger visitors.
Castle Howard, near Malton, opens on Saturday, February 14, and will hold activities in each school holiday this year under its More 4 Kids scheme.
Until Sunday, February 22, there will be historically themed fun for children.
The activities will focus on Castle Howard's history and will enable youngsters to experience what life was like for children in the 18th and 19th centuries.
In bad weather, the elegant Long Gallery was often turned into a grand playroom for children and adults. Visitors can play indoor games such as charades and cards as well as making paper flowers and dolls.
There will be lessons in etiquette and children will act out the part of the earl, countess, housemaid or governess.
Castle Howard offers three-day passes and Gold season tickets so visitors need not miss any of the events.
