PEOPLE are being invited to have their names set in stone to raise money for a community centre.
Waterhouses Village Hall, just outside Durham, is looking for people to sponsor the building by having their names inscribed on its bricks.
Secretary of the village hall association Rhona Foster said when the centre was built about five years ago, 200 of the centre's bricks were inscribed with the names of residents.
But about 65 were left blank. The association is hoping people will fill in the blanks at £20 per brick.
Mrs Foster said the scheme was being opened to people who once lived in the village, or from the surrounding area. Money raised from the scheme will go towards the upkeep of the village hall.
For details, call Mrs Foster at the village hall on 0191-373 9113.
