AN initiative which aims to get unemployed people back into work is proving to be a success.
CableCom Training and Network Construction Services, in partnership with the Into Work Project and JobCentre Plus, help unemployed people from the Tees Valley area to be selected for training.
There is a guarantee of a job in the rail industry at the end of the course.
Intense training takes place over two weeks, which includes personal track safety, first aid, and track maintenance.
The Into Work Project has worked closely with a panel of organisations and individuals, including St Anne's Partnership, Neighbourhood Renewal, Action Team for Jobs and JobCentre Plus to select the recruits.
The eight people on the course are now in full-time employment and are gaining more experience as they progress in the industry.
Steve Davidson, the district manager for Job Centre Plus Tees Valley, said: "I am delighted a partnership approach has successfully supported this training opportunity which has resulted in jobs for local people."
