YOUNGSTERS from a Darlington school have been finding out how the town could be improved as part of a geography project.
More than 40 pupils from Eastbourne Comprehensive School have been interviewing residents in six council wards surrounding the school to find out what facilities are needed.
The year nine and ten pupils carried out investigations over two days in the Red Hall, Lingfield, Bank Top, Lascelles, Eastbourne and Central wards, with the help of geography teachers Charlie Smart and Andrew Chisholm.
They reported back to Renaissance Research Consultants and Darlington Borough Council.
The results of the pupils' survey will be featured in displays at community forums taking place in the wards during this month and the next.
Headteacher Karen Pemberton said: "They gathered information by taking digital photographs and questioning local residents.
"The pupils' displays highlight a range of problems in the area and offer a platform for valuable discussion between councillors and local residents."
