AN Age Concern boss has condemned an attack on an 81-year-old grandfather which left him with serious injuries.
George Duck, from Skinningrove, east Cleveland, who suffers from angina and asthma and is in remission from colon cancer, was attacked by a youth, aged between 18 and 20, after an altercation over car parking.
The attack happened on Thursday after Mr Duck's wife, Irene, 78, asked the youth to move his car, which was parked in an alley that she needed to get through.
The youth became abusive and attacked Mr Duck.
Dave Punshon, chief executive of Age Concern Teesside, said: "I am gobsmacked. Any attack on an elderly person is to be condemned.
"I don't understand why anyone would do this, especially in such a tight-knit community like Skinningrove."
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call (01642) 302626
