Kingfisher Finance Trophy first round Grey Horse 3 East End WMC 3 (aet): East End led after 20 minutes in this pulsating tie only for Scott Raper to level 5 minutes later.

Andy Wetherell then put Horse ahead with a 20-yarder and they were unfortunate not to increase their lead when Darren Tate was whistled up for offside when clean through. East End levelled in the second half to take the game into extra time but Horse regained the lead when sub Peter Gormley converted. Back came East End with a scecond equaliser and so it remained necessitating a penalty shoot-out. After five penalties the scores were still level at 4 apiece but East End held their nerve in the sudden death stage of the shoot out to finally win through to the second round 8-7 on penalties. Scorers for East End were Jason Jackson, Darren Winter and Mark Maddison.

Newton Aycliffe 4 Hole in the Wall 2

Aycliffe took an early lead and continued to dominate the first half adding a second shortly before the interval. Aycliffe extended their lead early in the second half, a goal which finally woke up Wall to spark a mini-revival. Their best period of play culminated in goals from Gary Wilson and David Todd, the latter following a superb run and shot. Wall continued to press for an equaliser but had the wind knocked out of their sails with the goal of the game when a strong run through the middle was finished with a thumping shot in off the underside of the bar. Aycliffe's scorers were David Baldwin (2), Kevin Wilkinson and Will Swinburn.

Second round

After a very lean spell Darlington The Mowden got back to picking up points when they overcame Darlington Stadia two goals to one, first half was fairly even with neither side able to turn chances into goals, in the second Mowden started to get on top, first they struck through Adam Wilson and made it 2-0 later on through Ritchie Dodsworth, with about five minutes to go Gavin O'Neil pulled one back for Stadia.

The young side of Darlington GSOB got off to a great start when they visited Tindale WMC by taking the lead, once Tindale had got over the initial shock of going behind they got back into the game to run out 5-1 winners, it proved to be a Paul's day for scoring with Paul Wymer a brace and Paul Hopps and Paul Foster one apiece, Lee Foster rounded off their scoring.

Darlington Travellers Rest had a good 4-1 win over Hurworth Emerson Arms, they had the better of the first half to go in three one up with goals from Matthew Cole, Ryan Sandick and a diving header by Carl Green, the only goal of the second half fell to Chris Marksby

It was the same 4-1 scoreline between Stillington The Royal and Chilton Community College, there was only one goal in the first half and that was for the College, with the sun behind them Royal eventually got on, top two goals went to Paul Cleary, Charlie Eales then volleyed the third with Wayne Muldowney adding the fourth.

Shildon Elm Road WMC had to fight for a 2-1 interval lead against the improved Darlington Skerne Park, the more experienced Elm Road came into force in the second as they added a further six without reply, Richard Nash and Ian Maddison both hit a pair with one apiece going to Craig Dawson, Darryl Meadows, Daniel Chadwick and Thomas Loudon.

Darlington Dalesman gave another good performance on their visit to Darlington Archdeacon going down 2-1, our condolences go to Ian Thompson who played even though he had been informed earlier in the day of his mothers death, ironically it was Ian who bagged both goals for Archdeacon, the first a quickly struck free kick the second after a goalmouth scramble, Paul Prince struck a deserved goal for Dalesman with the last kick of the game.
