The fixtures have been sporadically played since the Christmas break with all fixtures wiped out on January 8.
The following week, all matches bar the Derwentside v Sedgefield clash were played. That match was postponed due to lack of a referee, which fortunately doesn't happen often in the League. Newcastle upset the title race, when they turned over, championship chasing Durham HQ 8-2. Paul Kindon (4), Barrie Joiyce (2) and one each by Koby Cohen and Richard Hay got the goals for Newcastle as they finally displayed last season's form. Two goals from Paul Bruce were of little consolation to his team. That defeat allowed Tyne and Wear Fire to go top, when they defeated Frankland 4-1. Langbaurgh also remained in the race with a 6-1 win over Darlington. Ally Lancaster scored a hat-trick, whilst Darren Henry, debutant John May and an own goal completed the scoring for Langbaurgh. Tony Young scored for Darlo. Easington and Durham Fire fought out a seven-goal thriller with the Fire team securing all the points by the odd goal.
Only two matches survived this week's rainfall and both were played at Aykley Heads. Durham HQ got back to winning ways with a victory over Durham Fire. The 4-3 win pushed HQ back to the top, with their nearest opponents left kicking their heels. This was the Fire teams second consecutive 4-3 result winning and losing one each. Tony Insall scored a hat trick for HQ with Lee Tooke scoring the other goal. Eddie Freeman bagged a brace for the Fire team. Things will get interesting as HQ have yet to meet Tyne and Wear in the League and both teams still have to entertain third placed Langbaurgh.
Easington took the points against Sedgefield with a 5-3 victory. Dean Pearsaon scored on his debut for Sedgefield, with the other goals coming from Neil Baker and Simon Corbett.
* The League looks to have secured sponsorship for next season and hopes to announce the details after the next meeting of the League in February.
