LEISURE staff are preparing for a busy half-term week at sports facilities in a market town.
A series of events have been lined up at Thirsk Swimming Pool, including crash courses in swimming, which will run from Monday, February 16, to the following Friday and a taster session in canoeing from instructors at Hambleton Paddlers.
At Thirsk floodlit pitch, the week will start with a one, two or three-day football coaching course.
It will be followed on the Friday by a day called allsorts sports where children can try out many different activities, such as cricket, tennis and athletics.
It is half-price to any youngsters taking part in all three days of football.
Art workshops are being held at The World of James Herriot on the Wednesday. Children over four can take part in the session from 10am to noon.
There will also be a trip to the Falconry Centre, at Sion Hill Hall, for the over-eights.
Leaflets on the Hyper Holiday activities are available at the swimming pool, Herriot Centre and Tourist Information Centre.
