Richmond Motor Club had a fantastic entry of 208 competitors for their club trial at Helwith, near Richmond, last Sunday.

The course was three laps of 12 sections and two riders, Dan Thorpe (Gas Gas) and Ian Austermuhle (Beta), could not be separated after finishing without loss of marks. Third in the expert class was James Dabill on his Beta, who dropped eight.

Six girl riders were present, including British champion Donna Fox and Micka Wraight, who had come up from Doncaster especially for the event.

Sunday also saw the North Durham Motor Club in action with their North-East Centre Trial at Eltringham Farm, Mickley Junction, near Prudhoe, Northumberland.

The club used three courses to sort out the 67 competitors over four laps of a ten-section course.

In the expert class, James Harland (Gas Gas) took the win from Carl Shaw, also riding a Gas Gas.
