A MAGICAL, garden hideaway where children can listen to stories, is to be created with an environmental grant.
Newbottle Primary School, near Houghton-le-Spring, is to create a storyteller's arbour out of living willow trees, with a carved storyteller's chair, log seats for pupils and native plants such as honeysuckle.
The school was awarded £250 from Sunderland City Council's Action for Community Environments (ACE) fund.
Projects also lined up to receive a £250 grant include plans to install a water feature with a millwheel to attract wildlife at East Herrington Primary and a community garden with vegetable patch and sensory area at Sunderland North Community Business centre.
