CONFECTIONERY group Glisten has made its third acquisition in six months.
The company has bought Penguin Confectionery from House of York, of North Shields, adding to its earlier purchase of chocolate football maker Sunya, of York.
Glisten paid £428,450 for Penguin.
The company is selling surplus plant equipment to JF Packaging for £328,450.
JF Packaging is a partnership operated by the Fravigar family, who in January sold their confectionery business to the group.
The Penguin Confectionery product range overlaps the manufacturing capability of F Fravigar Ltd in wine gums, jelly babies, jelly beans and boiled sweets.
The group will also be able to branch out into the premium pectin-fruit jellies sector.
Last year, Penguin Confectionery had sales of £4.7m
Jeremy Hamer, non-executive chairman of Glisten, said: "Including Sunya, this is our second significant bolt-on acquisition in recent months, which fits neatly with the newly acquired F Fravigar Ltd in Skegness."
