Darlington will be hoping striker Barry Conlon continues to find the back of the net as they go into tomorrow's crucial relegation battle at Macclesfield Town.

The club's administrators this week backed manager David Hodgson's decision to turn down a bid from Swansea City for Conlon, whose tenth goal of the season earned his side a 1-1 draw at Bury last Saturday.

The point kept Quakers out of the relegation places, but they were disappointed not to take all three after the big Irishman had what looked a perfectly good goal ruled out by the referee.

The controversial incident five minutes from time saw Shakers keeper Glyn Garner drop the ball under pressure from Conlon, who then poked it into the net.

The referee appeared satisfied that the Darlington striker's challenge was fair, but changed his mind after speaking to a linesman who was much further away from the incident.

Conlon had put Quakers ahead from close range after 19 minutes, following a cross from Mark Convery, but the home side equalised through Matt Barrass early in the second half.

Darlington are now unbeaten in their last three away games, so should make the trip to Macclesfield with plenty of confidence. The Silkmen are second from bottom, three points behind Quakers with a match in hand.

Both sides had scheduled Tuesday night games postponed due to frozen pitches and Kidderminster took advantage with a 2-1 home win over Northampton which boosted their survival hopes.

The result dropped Darlington down one place to third from bottom, but Hodgson was not too worried as the postponement gave several of his players more time to recover from injuries.

They included striker Neil Teggart, who will stay with the club until the end of the season after Sunderland agreed to extend his loan spell.

Teggart is suspended for tomorrow's match, but should be available for Tuesday night's rearranged game against Cheltenham Town at the Reynolds Arena.
