Bakery group Greggs served up record profits but said consumers may be losing their appetite for its sandwiches.
The Newcastle-based retailer said pre-tax profits rose 10.4 per cent to £40.5m in 2003 - the 12th annual increase in a row.
Greggs said like-for-like sales had improved progressively after last summer's heatwave, rising 3.3 per cent during the year to December 27 and by 3.1 per cent in the first nine weeks of 2004.
