COMMUNITY wardens will soon be on the streets of Ingleby Barwick.
The council wardens will begin patrolling the area early next month and the scheme will run every day for a trial period of a year.
Funding will come from the parish council precept at a cost of about 13p per household per week.
Coun Tom Bowman, chairman of Ingleby Barwick Parish Council, said: "We have looked into this very carefully, working closely with Stockton Council since 2002.
"We also visited other warden services and decided it was the right thing to do for our residents and businesses."
Coun Martyn Ingram, Stockton Council cabinet member for housing and community safety, said: "The usual funding we can get to deliver warden services is all tied to deprivation factors.
"Ingleby Barwick is one of the most affluent parts of the borough but, unfortunately, nowhere is free from the effects of anti-social behaviour and the only way we can deliver a service in Ingleby Barwick is by working in partnership with the parish council."
