A Northumbria University graduate has emigrated to work on some of Australia's most famous landmarks.
Building services engineering graduate Richard Crampton has made an 11,000-mile move from Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, to Newcastle, Australia, for a job with building services design and management consultancy Steensen Varming.
Projects he is involved in include improvements to the Sydney Opera House and refurbishment work on The Old Mint, where Australia's first coins were made.
Mr Crampton clinched the job after company director Dan Mackenzie, also a Northumbria graduate, struggled to find Australian graduates who could move into the role of a building services engineer without further training.
This was because there are no specific building services engineering courses in Australia.
After a successful interview in the London office, and an application for a long-stay visa, Mr Crampton was on his way.
He said: "The course at Northumbria prepared me extremely well for the construction industry and, of course, I got my dream job through the university.
"I like living by the sea and being able to go for swim or a surf after work and there is always something interesting to do at the weekend."
