COMMUNITY wardens will take to the streets of Ingleby Barwick following a request from the parish council.
The wardens will be on the estate for a number of hours a day after Ingleby Barwick Parish Council asked for the warden service to be extended to that part of the borough.
Parish council chairman Councillor Tom Bowman said: "We looked into this very carefully and also visited other warden services and decided it was the right thing to do for our residents and businesses."
The service will start early next month and will run for an initial period of 12 months. The wardens will be funded through the parish council precept, costing about 13p per household per week.
Councillor Martyn Ingram, Stockton Borough Council's cabinet member for housing and community safety, said: "The usual funding we can get to deliver warden services is all tied to deprivation factors.
"Ingleby Barwick is one of the most affluent parts of the borough, but unfortunately nowhere is free from the effects of anti-social behaviour.
"The only way we can deliver a service in Ingleby Barwick is by working in partnership with the parish council."
