THE young winner of a poster competition was yesterday congratulated by the Mayor of Darlington.
Twelve-year-old Angie Beckett was unable to attend a ceremony last month at which Councillor Ron Lewis presented certificates to children who entered the borough council's Time to Recycle art competition.
However, last night she was presented with her certificate and book token from the Mayor.
The Darlington schoolgirl's poster will be used to promote the council's Time to Recycle kerbside recycling scheme, which was launched in September.
Second and third place went to eight-year-olds Elizabeth Kay Tulloch and Jenny Gilling respectively.
The runners-up were Nicola Wilkinson, seven, Adam Turner, 15, Matthew Harrington, ten, Gemma Harvey, 12, Morgan Diaper, six, Cara Dawson, six, and Claire Harman, 13.
