SUNDERLAND will face Millwall or Tranmere in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
The Wearsiders avoided Premiership big guns Manchester United and Arsenal in Monday's draw, who will contest the other semi.
Sunderland beat Sheffield United at the Stadium of Light on Sunday to secure their place in the last four.
Reacting to the draw, Black Cats boss Mick McCarthy said: "It's a great tie for us. Playing Millwall or Tranmere gives you a far better chance of getting to the final than had it been Manchester United or Arsenal and whatever one of the Nationwide teams will be in the final.
"But I approach it with caution. It's easy to say, 'Yes, great, we're in the final' - we're not. We've got to beat Millwall or Tranmere and, don't forget, Millwall have beaten us twice this season.
"If they (Millwall) win the replay then I guess we will be the underdogs because we've lost to them twice! But maybe it will be third time lucky."
"There was a cheer around the place when the draw was made, of course we are happy with it. We'll all look forward to it."
The draw will guarantee a place in the Uefa Cup next season for the Nationwide side which meets Arsenal or Man Utd in the final.
The ties will be played on the first weekend of April.
