A CHARITY is hoping a song recorded by opera singer Susannah Clarke will boost its funds.
The Teesside singer has sung Flying High, written by Guy Stoker, a Northumberland music teacher, for Coping with Cancer North-East, which provides services that include information, support and counselling to sufferers and their families.
The single will be launched at Gateshead's MetroCentre at noon on Thursday, March 18, in Exhibition Square, and will feature a performance of the song.
Fundraising manager Deborah Roberts said: "Guy wrote the song in memory of his late stepfather, who had cancer. He wanted to do something for other cancer sufferers.
"He has always been a big fan of Susannah Clarke, and he was amazed when she agreed to do it."
