Darlington MP Alan Milburn met Foyer residents to learn more about their experiences of living in supported housing.
The town's Foyer, run by the YMCA at Middleton Court, offers a temporary safe haven for 16 to 25-year-olds who find themselves homeless. Mr Milburn met Foyer manager Ann Batemen and some young residents to look around their accommodation and learn about the training in basic skills they receive on the site.
He also presented many of the 31 teenagers at the home with their Skills for Life certificates, meriting their achievements in skills includiing information technology and cookery.
Paul Dodsworth, 17, visited the Foyer to be presented with award from the MP as Darlington's Millennium Volunteers regional winner.
