MAYORS and representatives from across the region attended this year's inaugural meeting of Northumbria in Bloom yesterday.
About 300 people attended the event at Hardwick Hall, Sedgefield, to hear about the rules and regulations.
Town and village representatives were also given tips from the judges about which floral displays win approval.
Aycliffe Village Action Committee and Sedgefield in Bloom Committee co-hosted the event, which was sponsored by Aycliffe Fabrications and Curtis Office, in Darlington.
Spring judging for Northumbria in Bloom takes place next month and Bill Blenkinsop, from Aycliffe Village, hopes its displays of blue and yellow pansies attract the judges' eyes.
Summer judging across the North-East take place in June and July and winners of the categories will be announced at a presentation on September 13.
