CHILDREN'S imaginations - and parents' creative talents - were given free rein when Wavell Infants School celebrated national Book Week.
Youngsters were encouraged to go to school dressed as their favourite literary characters and enjoyed making colourful costumes mirroring the clothes their heroes and heroines wear.
Nursery rhyme characters rubbed shoulders with others from more recent film and TV favourites, including Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Kipper the Dog and Angelina Ballerina.
Headteacher Sue Fletcher entered into the spirit of things, dressing as Peter Pan.
Other events to mark Book Week at the Catterick Garrison school included a visit from an entertainer, who led literacy workshops, and a day when children took their pyjamas to class for a bedtime story.
