PLANS are under way for an annual town gala and funfair in summer.
Members of Spennymoor Town Council this week supported arrangements for the aged persons' gala to be held on Saturday, July 3.
Alongside the gala in Jubilee Park, a funfair will be held from July 1 to 3 and on July 5.
The council's services and amenities committee, which met on Tuesday, agreed to use facilities in the park for the opening event on Thursday, July 1, and approved plans for the funfair to enter the park on Sunday, June 27, and leave on Tuesday, July 6.
The committee also confirmed that the funfair will operate at the Bonfire Night fireworks display on November 5.
Councillor John Culine, whose family company Culine's Amusements holds the events, declared an interest and left the meeting for items concerning the events.
Council leader Councillor Bill Waters said: "I was unable to attend last year's gala, but by all accounts it was a very successful event and is great for the town."
