A WOMAN is preparing to walk 20ft across hot coals to raise money for charity next week.
Angela Thomson, 38, of Sandriggs, Darlington, decided to tackle the fire walk challenge in aid of St Cuthbert's Hospice, in Durham, after recently loosing a cousin to cancer.
"My cousin, who was just 23, died recently from prostate cancer so I just thought I would do something to help other people who are suffering," she said.
"I love doing things for charity and I thought this looked challenging."
Miss Thomson will join at least 35 other people who have decided to hotfoot it to Durham Market Place on March 17 to take part in the sponsored ordeal.
She has already raised £200 for the hospice, but is appealing to readers to increase the amount in aid of cancer sufferers.
To pledge an amount, telephone Ms Thomson on (01325) 488330.
For more information about the challenge, contact St Cuthbert's community fundraiser Michele Woods, on 0191-386 1170.
