Bishop Auckland League: Bishop Auckland RAFA Club pulled off a very good home win against early league leaders Crook White Swan.
The home side had two singles wins from Dave Gaskins and Billy Siddle with Simon Roberts and Lisa Gaskins adding one each. The Swan had singles points from Kevin Carter, David Stewart, Lee Airey and Brian Wailes. However the RAFA completed victory in style when Simon Roberts and Billy Siddle added the doubles and Bob Chambers beat Kevin Carter in both captain's games.
Wilington Brewer's Droop made their first win of the season at Spennymoor Weardale A. The home side had two singles points from Shane Casen and one each from Martin Short and Steve Sinclair, whilst the visitors replied with two each from Billy Wragg and Steve Parker and one each from Jimmy Fleming and Bob Saunders. The home side took the doubles through Brian Casen and Steve Sinclair but Billy Wragg completed a good night for the Brewer's when he beat Shane Casen in both captain's games.
Spennymoor Weardale B and Bishop Auckland Football Club share the top spot with a one point advantage over Bishop Auckland Snooker Club, who are one ahead of Crook Olde Horse Shoe and Henknowle Manor.

Auckland Area League
The top two teams met when Bishop Auckland Manor travelled to Spennymoor Voltigeur B. First blood went to the home side through Alan Shaw but Peter Mernor levelled. Michael Craddock and Steve Jones put the home side two up but two wins for Steven Webb and a second from Peter Mernor saw the Manor edge into a one-point lead before a Steve Jones equalised. Bill Turner won for the visitors but Ritchie Turner levelled. The Manor took the first doubles through Peter Mernor and Jon Tomlinson but the Voltigeur again squared the match when Steven Horner and Paul Wrightson won the second doubles. Steven Webb won the deciding captain's game to give the Manor the odd point victory
Bishop Auckland King's Head couldn't have asked for a better start in their match at home to Bishop Auckland Grand B. Malcolm Parry, David Jacomb, Steven Bainbridge and David Baird won the opening four games for the King's before Phil Young clawed a point back for the visitors. Malcolm Parry, David Jacomb and Steven Taylor added points for the King's with David Wilson and Phil Young reducing the arrears. David Jacomb with Steven Taylor took the first doubles and David Baird with Mark Heward the second, with Steven Bainbridge adding the captains game to make a seven points victory for the Kings.

Crook Individual League
Doug Bowey produced the shock of the league to date when he beat last season's runner-up and one of the favourites for this season's title, Michael Burke. Michael took the first frame but then seemed to suffer from over-confidence as Doug capitalised and took the second with Michael having all seven balls remaining on the table. In the decider Michael made two uncharacteristic errors with Doug mopping up five balls and the black.
The match of the night came when Neil Campbell met Les Scott, both under-achievers from last season. Neil never missed ball in the first two frames, whilst Les relied on his experience as a grafter to pull back the third.
Simon Bowey has replaced Johnny Mason, who has resigned, but faced Gerald Parkin, who hit some really good form to leave the newcomer without a point. However Simon broke his duck when he took a point from Stuart Hall.
David Craggs leads the table with a one point advantage over David Haygarth, who is one ahead of Les Scott, Neil Campbell and Gerald Parkin.

Durham and
District League
Durham Snooker Club moved up to third place in the table after they only dropped one point to Gilesgate Three Horse Shoes. The Snooker Club had two eight ball clearances from Michael Rhodes and one from Gary Carr.
In the League Knockout, the leaders, Consett Stateside were stretched to beat Spennymoor Voltigeur in the decider, whilst the second placed, Witton Gilbert White Tun B had a similar experience against Gilesgate Three Horse Shoes. Framwellgate Moor Marquis of Granby beat Bowburn Oak Tree and Sacriston Daisy Hill beat Ushaw Moor Catholic Club by three points.
The draw for the semi-finals has brought the top two together with Consett Stateside playing the White Tun B, whilst the Marquis of Granby play Daisy Hill.
County Super League
Shildon A moved three points behind the leaders when they won by two points at Durham. The visitors started well with points from Peter Coates, Mal Parry and Paul Willey but Paul Shutt, Chris Beswick and Clare Tritton levelled before Rance Richardson gave the Shildon side a halfway lead.
Durham looked to be in for a pasting when Michael Hoggart, Peter Coates, Mal Parry and Andrew tenant took the first four second half frames. However the home side recovered with wins from Chris Beswick, Paul Shutt and Dave Ferguson to keep the defeat to a minimum.
The Shildon derby proved to be a very tight competitive affair with the A team fighting off a second half run by the B team to take the final two points to force a draw. The first six frames of the match were shared when Paul Willey, Andrew Tennant and Rance Richardson took points for the A team but were matched by Dave Waites, Jimmy Dinning and Brian Bailey. Martin Taylor edged the A team ahead by taking the last game of the first half.
Michael Hoggart increased the A team's lead at the star of the second half, but then the B team came with four in a row from Martin Aldworth, Jimmy Dinning, Colin Bell and Brian Bailey. Rance Richardson closed the gap and Martin Taylor forced the draw by taking the final frame. However there was a down side for the A team as they landed a late score sheet fine.
The top six players in the race for the Individual Player of the Year are 1st Rance Richardson (Shildon A) played 8, won 7; 2nd equal David Bromley, Steven Hunter and Ronnie McAloon (all Spennymoor) and Johnny Mason and Gerald Parkin (both Crook B) played 8, won 6; 6th Paul Shutt (Durham) played 6, won 5.
Willington League
The qualifying stage for the League Championship was held at four venues with the winner from each moving forward to the semi-finals to be played on Finals Night. The winner from Willington Cottles was Dave Bennett; the winner from Hunwick Quarry was Ian Spowart; the winner from Byers Green Royal Oak was Brett Fleming and the winner form Willington New Inn was Phil Blyth.
Tow Law Scottish Courage League
The qualifying stage of the League Singles Championship was held at four venues with the winner from each going forward to Finals Night. At Tow Law new Market Gavin Tennant won through after he won the final against Ian Johnson. In the semi finals Tennant beat Anthony Ward, while Johnson beat Keith Race.
At Tow Law Football Club Colin Armstrong qualified when he beat Charlie Donaghy. In the semi finals Armstrong beat John Conley, whilst Donaghy beat David Murray.
The qualifier from Tow Law Station was Graeme Thompson, whilst Christopher Reed qualified from Tow Law Dan's Castle.
