A great performance by Spraire Lads Under-8s, sponsored by Astra Transport, saw them come away with all the points against South Park Rangers. Spraire played some good flowing football and created many chances but also defended well through Thomas Hudspith and Aiden Mcdonough and keeper Chris Soanes. Spraire opened their account with a great goal from Johnathan Dye and added a second later on through man of the match, Liam Mckue. Second-half substitute Jordan Pearson made it a debut to remember as he scored in the last minute to give Spraire the victory.
Spraire Lads Under-9s sufferd a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Eldon Lions.
Spraire Lads Under-13s weren't at the races in the first half against Eston Athletic and gave their visitors a 4-0 half-time lead. After the break, every Spraire player upped his work-rate by 100 per cent and they restored some pride by pulling three goals back, courtesy of a hat-trick from man of the match, Johnny Ward.
Spraire Lads Under-15 A, sponsored by CCW installations, produced a stirring second-half performance to take all three points in a derby against 21st Allstars. Allstars scored two well-taken goals to lead at half-time. However, after the break, Spraire stepped-up and man of the match Matthew Davison led the come-back with a strike from 25 yards. With 20 minutes remaining Craig Musgrave equalised with an ambitious lob which set the scene for Craig Lavelle and Michael Lavelle to put the game beyond doubt with a goal each.
Spraire Lads Under-15 B, sponsored by Marshall Engineering, lost their unbeaten League record in a 2-1 defeat against Dormans Athletic. It was a keenly contested match with great commitment from both teams. Dormans took a first-half lead from a free-kick on the edge of the area. After the interval Spraire pressed hard for an equaliser but found themselves 2-0 down against the run of play, once again from a free-kick outside of the box. Tom Hind then showed great determination to get on the end of a through ball to reduce the areas to set-up a rousing closing five minutes as Spraire searched in vain for an equaliser. Sam Clarke was man of the match for a solid display in the centre of defence.
Spraire Lads Under-16s, sponsored by Cummins Engines, worked hard in atrocious conditions to win 3-2 at Stokesley Juniors. Spraire, with the wind in their faces, went behind to a punt that was carried into the goal by the wind. The rest of the half was spent battling the elements and due to a fine display in central defence by man of the match Brad Tarran and 'keeper, Tom Pattison, Spraire went in at the interval only 2-0 down. After the break, Spraire soon reduced the arrears with a close range effort by Myles Haymer. Spraire's midfield of Barr and Haynes then took control of the game. Ben Alderson tapped in Spraire's equaliser and then Lewis Webb scored the winner with a fierce drive into the bottom corner following a fine ball from Scott Macdonald.
