Playing against Kader, Marton Under-14s came out on top to earn a place in the final of the TJFA League Cup after beating an under-strength side who took to the field with ten men, their team depleted due to injured and cup-tied players.
From the kick off Marton pressurised the Kader defence and were rewarded with an early goal, Walker curled a free kick into the box where Henderson reacted the quickest to force the ball home.
Marton added to their score soon after when Johnston ran on to a long goal kick from Worton to fire past the keeper in style. Kader to their credit never gave up and played some excellent football but the extra man advantage was starting to tell as Marton created more goal scoring opportunities, Kell Carroll, and Tymon all went close and a brilliant save from the stand in Kader keeper denied Walker a headed goal. With half time approaching Marton struck again, Colligan and Rowney combined well to play Henderson in who smashed the ball past the advancing keeper. Kader came out for the second half determined to get back into the game forcing Parker into action with two smart saves.
The home side responded in the best possible way, a long through ball from Worton found Johnston who beat the offside trap to drill the ball home. Two further goals were added, Rowney went on a fantastic run leaving players in his wake to finish well and minutes from time Carroll found Spence who hit a great shot from the edge of the area into the top corner of the net to make the final score 6-0.
