Cleveland League Sponsored by Coors Brewers: Division One; New Marske caused the upset of the week when beating third-placed Saltburn Cons A 5-1.
Gary Forrest started the ball rolling after beating Steve Binns 61-5 and 56-39. Richard Sivills won the next two games against Mark Cardoropoli during which he compiled a 40 break. Keith Corner won his first frame against Paul Baggot by 60-10 but Baggot won the final frame 52-46 therefore saving a whitewash. The match between Redcar Lakes B and Ennis Square A turned out to be a 6-0 whitewash in favour of the Lakes. Brian Norris recorded a 35 break in his match with Derek Leadbitter. Redcar Lakes A stay in pole position this week aided by a 5-1 home win against Grinkle Park. Marske Workies A recorded the same scoreline against Carlin How B. Redcar Workies A chalked up an excellent 4-2 away win against Lune Street. During this match Richard Beckham lost his 100 per cent unbeaten record when Chris Smith beat him in the first game 56-39.
Division Two
Result of the week was recorded by Redcar Cons B when they beat Redcar Lakes D 4-2. Maurice Mitford rolled back the years after winning both of his games against Sean Wilson with scores of 84-6 and 51-28. During this match Mitford compiled an excellent 34 clearance. Chris Wilson then levelled the match for the visitors when winning his two games against Steve Anderson by 60-21 and 53-40. Mike Marshall then wrapped things up after beating Mike Thurston in both his games by 61-57 and 57-39. Redcar Workies B jumped back into second spot this week aided by a 6-0 whitewash against the Lodge's B team. South Bank Albion also whitewashed their opponents, Marske Workies C, during which Phil Carr compiled a 64 break, Phil Hartley a 44 and John Hartley a 36 and 39. The Lodge's A team fared better when recording a 5-1 home win against Marske Workies B, Ricky Heseltine compiled a 43 break during his match with Ted Walker. The remaining three matches all ended 3-3.
