Matthew Drury then made an excellent save to keep the Nunthorpe attack at bay to help keep his side's 1-0 lead intact at half time. In the second half the match was again scrappy but Nunthorpe's hopes of getting anything out of the game were hit when they had a player sent of in the 75th minute. Dormans booked a place in the final of this cup after a reasonably easy victory over local league side Thornaby Mandale. James McGowan gave Dormans a great start when he scored after only five minutes and this remained the only goal of a very evenly contested first half. Again there were some tough tackling and the Boys Club gradually got on top and in the 85th minute Michael Meggison broke clear and ran on to give the Boys Club a 2-1 lead which, despite a concerted effort from the home side, they hung onto to progress to the semi-finals and a home match against BEADS in early April.

In the second half a lack of discipline by the home side saw them slip further behind when Matthew Hill made it 3-0 in the 67th minute, he added his second and his side's fourth two minutes later. DSRM were reduced to nine men when they had two players sent off and Richmond took advantage to add further goals through Dave Hill in the 75th minute and Matthew Hill scored twice more in the 80th and 83rd minute to make it 7-0.
Thornaby YC 3 Thornaby FC 1
The game was switched to Teesdale Park as the Youth Club pitch was unfit, but this did not deter the Youth Club as they raced into a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes with Gary Waite and Marty Moore scoring. In the second half Thornaby's chances of getting back into the match were reduced when Michael Percival was sent off in the 50th minute. Seven minutes later the Youth Club made it 3-0 when a Darren Humphries shot on goal was well saved by the Thornaby keeper only for Darren Fixter to react the quickest to score his 14th of the season.
