Thirteen minutes into the game Caz Ross broke from midfield and hit a low shot past the City keeper to give South Durham Royals an early lead.
The lead was increased five minutes later when City failed to clear a Tracey Swales cross which fell to Becca Adams to shoot home for 2-0.
The rest of the half saw City play some neat passing football without troubling Sarah McDonald in the Royals goal.
The second half saw Royals increase their lead after 53 minutes when Kim O'Connor got to the byline and crossed for Adams to score her second and two minutes later Adams squared the ball across the box for Swales to shoot home.
On 60 minutes City got a consolation when Kirsty Stokes scored. Three minutes later a Ross cross fell to Swales for her to score and restore Royals' four-goal lead. On 75 minutes it was a Swales corner that fell to Ross to score number six for Royals and two minutes later Royals captain O'Connor finished the scoring when another Swales corner caused the City defence trouble and was scrambled over the line.
Final score was South Durham Royals 7 Durham City Ladies 1.
South Durham Royals, Under-13s
Royals were away to Darlington Simply Lasses on Sunday and were keen to match their home victory earlier in the season. It was Simply who made the livlier start and were rewarded by a two goal lead after 20 minutes. Royals then began to fight back and with five minutes left to half-time began an amazing four goal rush. Holly Taylor scored the first, turning the defender and blasting past the keeper. Rebecca Toppin took on defenders down the left and slotted home the second. Rebecca Pattinson made it three with a cracking header and Holly Taylor struck again to make the score 4-2 to Royals at half-time. Second half saw Royals continue to dominate against a physical Simply side and punished them with 3 more goals. Rebecca Toppin scoring after a passing move with Taylor. Rebecca Pattinson got her second with a lovely strike, and Toppin enjoying a fine third goal for her hat-trick. Credit to Alex Saunders and Jade White for solid defending and Vicky Wray for midfield support. Steph Hartley was majestic in goal as usual. Final score 7-2. Royal's MoM Jade White, Simply Mom Kelly.
