Barnard Castle School will be back at Twickenham on April 3 after reaching the final of the Daily Mail Under-18s Cup for the second successive season.

They lost to Oakham School last year and this time face Bristol-based Colston's Collegiate, who have been excluded from the competition in recent seasons after winning it three times.

Barnard Castle won their semi-final 17-12 against Campion School, Hornchurch last Saturday after being 17-0 up at half-time through tries by Matthew Tait, Phil Dawson and Ross Batty.

Tait, who added a conversion, is due to be in South Africa with England for the IRB Under-19 World Championships at the time of the final.

But Barnard Castle coach Martyn Pepper has not given up hope of having him in the side at Twickenham.

He said: "It's something we need to talk to Matthew about. He has been selected by England, which is obviously a great honour, but this is his last year at school, he's playing with his mates and that is also a big incentive for him.

"We need to consider all the options - even flying him back for the final."

Colston's have left their two internationals out of their Daily Mail matches, knowing they would not be available for the final. They beat RGS Lancaster 24-7 in their semi.
