A RECRUITMENT team dropped in on a school yesterday to give pupils a taste of life in the RAF.
The touchdown at Thornhill School Business and Enterprise College, in Sunderland, by a search and rescue helicopter was one of the highlights of the day, which involved 40 RAF personnel.
The activities included a demonstration from a bomb disposal team, a laser-rifle range and a climbing wall.
RAF recruitment officer Phil Prosser said it was the first time a day of activities had been staged by the RAF at a North-East school.
He said: "We have tried this only once before in Yorkshire, and now we are piloting it in the North-East. It gives us the chance to show school pupils the full range of careers available to them in the RAF, as well as some of the more exciting activities on offer."
