A DARLINGTON primary school is celebrating after it was rated good by Ofsted.
Inspectors praised all areas of St Augustine's RC Primary School, from strong leadership and improving standards to excellent relationships between staff and students.
All-round strong performance and significant improvements in information communication technology (ICT), an area often weak in many schools, was singled out.
Standards in year six were found to be well above average in English, maths and ICT, and in year two, were above average in those and in science and design technology.
The progress of pupils with special educational needs was rated good by inspectors.
Attendance at the 281-pupil school was well above average, and inspectors said there were strong links with parents and the community, as well as good quality teaching.
Headteacher Catherine Crawford said: "I am proud of all our achievements.
"These have been made through dedicated staff teamwork, good relationships and expecting high standards in teaching, learning and behaviour."
Inspectors told the school it had to form an action plan to raise standards in investigative science, provide challenges for more able pupils across the curriculum and create access to outdoor learning for reception pupils.
