A SCHOOL'S pupils became editors, sub-editors and reporters for the day as they put together their own newspaper.
Year ten media studies students at Haughton Community School worked to tight deadlines to create a paper in six hours yesterday, as part of The Times Educational Supplement's News Day competition.
The 12-page paper had to include local, national and international news, sport and features, and photographs taken by the pupils.
Iain Hutchin, head of Year ten and media studies teacher, said: "They have produced some absolutely fantastic work. It was fairly frantic towards the end as they reached the deadline, but I was very impressed - they pulled it off.
"They included an exclusive interview with Middlesbrough opera singer Susannah Clarke, who happened to be in the school at the time - so that was quite a scoop."
Once printed, the newspaper will be distributed to pupils at the school.
