ONE of the biggest public art works in the UK will be unveiled today.
Opening Line, a 90-metre steel and glass sculpture by Danny Lane, is part of the newly-refurbished public transport interchange in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.
It will be unveiled by Arts Minister Estelle Morris at 3.30pm today.
During her tour of the region, she will welcome a "special relationship'" between North-East museums and the National Portrait Gallery. She will witness the signing of an agreement to bring more national exhibitions to the North-East, in a ceremony at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens.
Ms Morris will also open a £9m Media Centre at Sunderland University and visit two primary schools - Southwick, in Sunderland and Barmston Village, in Washington.
