KIND-hearted electricity workers got their hands dirty yesterday to build a footpath for disabled people.
Eight workers joined the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust to build the path which will allow disabled people to visit the bird hide at Dorman's Pool, near Billingham.
The desk staff at electricity company npower's Phoenix House, in Thornaby, also planted trees and shrubs to help maintain the site.
Carol Hunt, npower's corporate charity and community officer, said: "We have hundreds of staff and thousands of customers in this area so we want to help with what's important to them.
"Our Community Volunteers Scheme is able to match willing volunteers with local groups which need help. It also allows staff who are involved with voluntary initiatives or charity events to apply for financial support for their organisations."
