A HOLIDAYMAKER who lost his wallet while snorkling in the Caribbean was stunned when it was posted back to him - with the money still in it.

Nurse Andrew McGowan, 46, left the wallet in the pocket of his trunks while swimming in Grand Cayman, and it fell out.

But a Canadian woman found it in the sea a week later and turned cyber-detective to track him down.

The only clue to the wallet's owner was Mr McGowan's Northgate and Prudhoe NHS Trust employee identify card.

When she got home she went on the Internet, found the trust's website, and from there sent Mr McGowan a fax at work.

The pair began e-mailing each other and she posted the wallet to his mother's home at Pity Me, Durham City.

Mr McGowan, who now lives in Stocksfield, Northumberland, said: "I was quite amazed, really, because I was pretty sure I would never see it again.

"It is nice when some people are so honest. There was a fair bit of money in it so they could have just taken it away.

"It is a bit battered and full of sand, but it is OK
