A SOLICITOR is looking forward to spending more time with his family when he steps down as a partner in a North-East firm.
Bruce Cunningham is retiring as a partner in Hewitts Solicitors, in Bishop Auckland, after 25 years.
Mr Cunningham, 55, has run the firm's Shildon office for six years, having previously being in charge of the Newton Aycliffe office.
He will now work three days a week from the firm's recently built Bishop Auckland headquarters as a consultant.
His retirement will mark the end of an era, with the firm deciding to close its Shildon office.
Mr Cunningham said: "There comes a point when you want to spend more time at home and have less responsibility at work.
"By transferring our clients to Bishop Auckland they are benefiting from plush new offices, with the same level of high customer care.''
Mr Cunningham will now be able to devote more time to his involvement in Bishop Auckland Operatic Society and his part-time appointment with the appeals service
