THREE stolen motorbikes could prove dangerous in the wrong hands, police warned last night.
The off-road bikes, together worth £5,400, were taken two weeks ago from a garage in the Summerhill area of Shotley Bridge, near Consett.
Two of the bikes were green 50cc Kawasakis, while the third was a rare, imported Lem, painted a distinctive red, with silver-coloured plastics.
All three have enhanced 50cc engines. PC Andy Froggatt, of Consett police, said: "The fact that they are enhanced means they are a lot more powerful than they look. We are worried that, if children get hold of them, it could lead to a serious injury."
Anyone who is offered the bikes is asked to contact PC Froggatt on (01207) 504204
