FRIENDS of a teenager who has cancer organised a coffee morning to raise money for the hospital treating him.
Michael Chapman, 15, a pupil at Hurworth School Computing and Maths College, found out he had Hodgkin's disease before Christmas.
Michael, who was the school's top sportsman last year, attends classes every day, except Fridays, when he receives treatment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle.
Members of class 7C, which includes Michael's 11-year-old brother John, organised the sale of hot dogs, pizzas, cakes, crisps, biscuits, coffee, tea and orange to raise money for the hospital.
There were also games, including guess the number of sweets in the jar, name the teddy, card games and guess the weight of the cake. The event raised £116.
