Pat Green: Wave On Wave Republic/Universal (B0000562-02)
IF you've been a follower of country music for some time, then you'll certainly be interested in a new release on April 5. Texas has produced Billie Jo Spears, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Jeff Walker and Lyle Lovett, but how about Pat Green?. For some time now Green has been making waves and holds certain opinions. "I wasn't interested in having somebody put a hat and a big shiny belt buckle on me and have a personal trainer follow me around and make me into something I'm not. I never felt I had the clout to walk into Nashville and say 'I'm gonna write my own songs and have my band play on them'." Having stuck to his beliefs, he is a breath of freshness long needed on the music scene. His album features 13 songs, of which he wrote 12, which cross from the melodic to the raunchy with a cutting edge of instrumentation that is as bold as it is clean. It's an album that I'm sure will bring Green the status of some of his fellow Texans. Ironically titled, it perhaps explains some of his other thoughts like "I didn't get into this business to get rich, I got into it because I love music and I love people."
