Worthington C.I.U. Winter League - Crowtrees look to have one hand on the Second Division trophy and almost certain promotion after they whitewashed their hosts at Ferryhill A.
The visitors had wins from Keith McLauchlan, Peter Laverick, Steve Armstrong with a 65 break, Sonny Hann and Sean Johnston. This moves them twelve points clear of new House and Willington, who share second place.
In the re-arranged match between Newhouse and Willington the home side edged through by the odd point with wins from Harry Dinsdale, David Thompson and Paul Wright, whilst the visitors had wins from Tom Parkin and Jeremy Martin. Willington had earlier beaten the visiting Langley Park, who had Lawrence Jones as their only winner, whilst Newhouse had been beaten by the visiting Spennymoor B, who had wins from Gary Easen, Micky Anderson and Alan Rouell.
Spennymoor A moved thee points clear at the top of the First Division after they whitewashed the visiting Shotton Palms with wins from Ronnie Bateman, Michael Pratt, who had a 56 break, Eddie Rhodes, Paul Atkinson and Paul Biddle.
Wheatley Hill A dropped a point at home to Witton Gilbert, who had Paul Nord as their only winner. The home side had points from Alan Hall, Ronnie Peacock with a 33 break, Dennis Clish and Dave Walker, which keeps them fifteen points clear of Wingate, who moved up to third spot.
Fishburn A visited Wingate and only managed to take one point when Peter Davison won. The home sides points came from Steve Allen, John Bourne, Jimmy Mason and Geoff Howe.
Third Division leaders, New Durham went down to their third defeat of the season at Durham City, who were never headed. Eric Wright put the home side ahead with Gordon Bowes levelling. John Davies restored the City lead only to see Neil Phillips equalise. In the decider Barry Stoddart took the City to victory by beating Tony Thompson.
Leeholme A held on to second place in the Third Division after they took the first three points at Crowtrees B through Alan Roe, Barry Shaw and Karl Thompson. The home side fought back with wins from David Lowery and Martin Wolf.
Bearpark eased their relegation worries with an odd point home win over Cockton Hill. Glen Morton, Alan Smith and Andy Donaldson won for the home side with Lee Taylor and Andrew Aisbitt replying. This win pushed Bearpark two points ahead of Old Shildon and four ahead of Newton Aycliffe.
Old Shildon took the first and last frames at home to Brandon through David Waites and Martin Taylor, who put in a 44 break. The visitors had wins from Graham Jackson, Brian Graham with a 30 break and Colin Goodrick.
Newton Aycliffe made a great start at Sherburn Village with wins from John Briddick and Simon Tweddle but the home side levelled through John Bower and Peter McGowan. In the decider the home side's Scott Mallaburn beat Richie Young to leave the visitors at the foot of the table.
Meadowfield maintained their promotion chance with a win in the decider at Belmont. Craig Hughes put the visitor ahead but Tom Robinson senior and Michael Short moved Belmont ahead. Norman Smith equalised and Malcolm Hughes beat Belmont's Chris Morley in the decider.
Wheatley Hill B and Sacriston share the bottom spot in the Second Division. The Hill B team went down by the odd point at Sacriston, who had wins from Dale Evans, Ronnie Bradley and Mark Appleby whilst Steve Cave and Tony Ellison replied.
Stanley Central lost at home to Coundon by the odd point. Frank Nicholson, Billy Goggins and Mick McKerry won for the visitors with Andy Craig and Bob Oxley replying.
Promotion hopes are still high on the agenda at Hunwick A, who beat the visiting Ferryhill B by the odd point. Ian Roddam and Billy Roddam won for the visitors whilst Neville Blenkinsopp, Ian Richardson and Peter Mernor took the home side to victory.
Tow Law B slipped up at home to Hunwick B, who had wins from Tom Ward, Barry Fleming and Arnold Fleming with John Wilson and Eric Lockerbie replying.
Tow law A made only their fourth win of the season with an odd point success at Fishburn B. Dave Blythe and Winston Hodgson won for the home side with Alan Spence, Doug Watson and Tommy Williams scoring for the Lawyers.
Adrian Foster was Leeholme B's only winner against the visiting Bearpark B, who had wins from Steven Gott, Graham Horrocks, Peter Wilson and Bob Lumley.
The League Presentation Evening will be held at Spennymoor Club on Saturday, 15 May. Tickets should be reserved at the next league meeting on Thursday, 25 March at 7.30 pm in Meadowfield Club.

Crook Snooker League
Crook Royal Sun beat the visiting second placed, Crook Olde Horse Shoe A to hold on to their third spot in the table. This defeat for the Shoe leaves them two points behind Crook Travellers Rest B at the top of the First Division with the Travellers having a match in hand.
The Royal Sun had singles wins from Paul Emerson, Cliffy Johnson, Barry Baker and Ronnie Hope, whilst the Shoe's points came from Richard Walker and Brian Johnson, who then joined up to take the doubles.
Crook White Swan A's chance of winning promotion took a dive when they went down by the odd point at Stanley Earl Derby. Gary Cutler, Kevin Nicholson, Colin Armstrong and Keith Nicholson took singles for the home side with Dave Stewart and Les Sanders taking singles for the Swan with Brian Wailes and Dave Stewart adding the doubles.
Crook Coach and Horses B are thirty-one points ahead of Crook White Swan B, who are three ahead of Crook Olde Horse Shoe B.
